Set up Mila on iOS and Android
Add a Mila mailbox to iOS's Mail app or Android's Gmail app.
Both platforms below use the same underlying servers described in Email client settings -- this guide is just the tap-by-tap path through each app's setup screens.
iOS: the built-in Mail app
- Open Settings > Mail > Accounts > Add Account, then choose Other at the bottom of the list.
- Tap Add Mail Account and enter your name, full email address, mailbox password, and a description (whatever you'd like to call it in the account list).
- iOS tries IMAP automatically. If it can't verify the account, it drops
you into manual Incoming Mail Server / Outgoing Mail Server
fields -- fill them in with:
- Incoming:
imap.mila.cx, port 993, your full email and password. - Outgoing:
smtp.mila.cx, port 587 (or 465), your full email and password.
- Incoming:
- Save, then make sure the Mail toggle is on for the account so it actually syncs.
Android: the Gmail app with a non-Gmail account
The Gmail app can manage any IMAP mailbox alongside your Google accounts:
- Open Gmail, tap your profile picture, then Add another account.
- Choose Other, then Personal (IMAP) (POP3 is also listed if you specifically want that instead).
- Enter your full Mila email address, then the mailbox password when prompted.
- On the incoming server screen, set the server to
imap.mila.cx, port 993, security type SSL/TLS. - On the outgoing server screen, set the server to
smtp.mila.cx, port 465 with SSL/TLS (or 587 with STARTTLS), and make sure "Require sign-in" uses the same email and password. - Give the account a name and tap through to finish -- it now appears alongside any other accounts in the app switcher.
Other Android mail apps
Apps like Outlook, K-9 Mail, and FairEmail all accept the same manual IMAP/SMTP settings above. Look for a Manual setup or IMAP option during account creation if the app's automatic detection doesn't recognize your domain -- it usually won't, since Mila hosts many different domains rather than one fixed one it can guess from your email address.
